Scottish exam passes hold steady

Exams
Girls are continuing to perform better than boys in exams

Exam results in Scotland are broadly static, according to a detailed breakdown of this year's figures.

But two key indicators do show slight improvements.

The percentage of pupils achieving at least five Standard grades at general level or above has risen from 76% to 77%.

Pupils gaining at least three Highers has risen from 22% to 23%. The statistics also showed that girls continued to do better than boys.

The best results were in East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, and East Lothian, Aberdeenshire and Moray, and the Western and Northern Isles.
