Vettriano said it was tough working below deck on the 100-year-old Clyde-built yacht, Tuiga, because it was such a confined space.
The artist and a photographer went out on another boat in choppy waters to instruct the model on how to pose for this painting, Masthead.
The Porsche Speedster featured in this painting belongs to former racing driver John Coombs. Vettriano said the painting's name, Lines of Beauty, refers to the shape of the car and the way the model is standing.
The Tuiga series will be exhibited in Kirkcaldy in March, along with a series of paintings based on Milan.
The model wore vintage clothing for the 1950s-inspired scenes depicted in the series.
Some of the paintings are set in the Yacht Club of Monaco, which now owns Tuiga.
The yacht, which has been restored and is now moored at the pontoon of her new owner, will reach her centenary on Saturday.
The artist himself posed with a model for some of the paintings, including Ship of Dreams.
Vettriano said Man of Mystery is one of his favourites from the series.
