The funerals of two men killed in the Air France crash in the Atlantic have been held.

Graham Gardner, 52, from Gourock in Renfrewshire, was a ship's master for Aberdeen oil company Subsea 7.

Arthur Coakley, 61, of Sandsend, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, was a founding director of Aberdeen-based oil industry company PDMS.

A total of 228 people were killed when the plane crashed off the Brazilian coast on 1 June.

Mr Coakley's wife, Patricia, said her thoughts were with the families who did not have the bodies of their loved ones to bury.

"We are very fortunate as a family to be able to bury Art; there are lots of families unable to do this," she said.

Most of the other passengers were Brazilians and French nationals.
