The pensioner has been left badly shaken by the robbery
A bag containing about £50,000 has been stolen from a pensioner outside a Glasgow bank.
The robber knocked the 78-year-old man to the ground as he crossed a road near the Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Cardonald at 1030 BST on Thursday.
The thief then stole the zipped bag containing the cash and made off.
Police said the victim was not seriously injured but had been left badly shaken by the incident. They have appealed for witnesses.
The BBC understands that the victim, a local businessman, is a regular customer who routinely makes large cash withdrawals.
The Strathclyde force said several people had seen the robbery. One passer-by attempted to follow the suspect down Cardonald Place Road into Berwick Drive, where the man jumped into a white van.

Police said the area was very busy when the robbery happened
Det Sgt Alan McAlpine said: "The elderly gentleman, thankfully, was not seriously injured. However, he is extremely upset and distressed by the whole event.
"At the time of the incident the area was very busy with people and traffic and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything or who may have information regarding the crime to contact us as a matter of urgency."
The suspect was described as white, well built, in his late 30s or 40s and about 5ft 10in tall.
He was wearing a navy blue polo t-shirt with navy blue trousers which were covered in spots of paint and padded at the knees.
