Snow drags down profits at Goals

Football
The company plans to open six new soccer centres next year

First half profits at Goals Soccer Centres were hit by poor weather at the beginning of this year, the East Kilbride-based company has said.

Goals said snow in February had cost the company £300,000.

The firm successfully raised £11m from shareholders last month so it could continue its expansion programme.

The group, which was formed in 2000, operates 32 football centres across the UK and plans to open a further six next year.

The company said its core football product remained resilient.

In a statement, it said spending at the bars in its centres showed early signs of improvement following a decline in the second half of 2008.
