Court date for Forces protesters

Thirteen people are to appear in court following protests which caused disruption at an Armed Forces Day parade in Glasgow.

Police have confirmed that one woman and 12 men were arrested and charged after trouble flared at Saturday's event in George Square.

It is understood the protests began after an Irish Republican group started chanting during the service.

Strathclyde Police said those arrested would appear in court in Monday.

The parade was part of a series of events at towns and cities around the country, with the Queen and Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond attending events in Edinburgh.

Strathclyde Police were forced to close off nearby George Street at about 1220 BST after the trouble began.

The "sickening" protests have been condemned by public figures, including Secretary of State for Scotland Jim Murphy and the leader of Glasgow City Council, Steven Purcell.
