Man 'serious' after street battle

Strathclyde Police vehicle
Police believe about 30 people were involved in the fight

A 29-year-old man was stabbed several times during a street fight involving about 30 people in Glasgow.

Medical staff said he was in a serious but stable condition in hospital after the disturbance at about 2225 BST on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said they were treating the attack, in Corkerhill Place, as attempted murder.

Officers were conducting door-to-door inquries and studying CCTV footage to try to identify the attacker.

The injured man is being treated at the Southern General Hospital.

Det Sgt Phil Peacock said those involved were thought to be aged in their 20s.

He said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Corkerhill Place at the time of the incident who may have seen the incident or heard the disturbance to contact police as a matter of urgency.

"No matter how insignificant they feel the information may be, I would urge them to come forward as they may well have unwittingly seen something which could assist us with our enquiries."
