Police have released the name of a woman who, along with a teenager, was killed in a head-on crash in Ayrshire on Saturday.

Margaret Walsh, 50, from Troon, was a passenger in a Peugeot 207 involved in the accident on the A76 near Cumnock.

Strathclyde Police said the 18-year-old driver of the other car, a Ford Focus, lost control of the vehicle.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Peugeot is being treated for serious chest injures at Ayr General Hospital.

Pc Gary Easton, who is carrying out an investigation, urged any witnesses to contact him.
