Tayside Police have traced a car which may be linked to the robbery

Three armed robbers have raided an electrical shop in Dundee.

The men, who were wearing balaclavas, threatened staff with knives at the 3000 RPM shop in Westport and made off with electrical equipment and money.

Tayside Police said they were carrying out door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage of the incident at about 1700 BST on Friday.

Following an appeal, a green Renault Laguna, which was seen shortly after the crime in City Road, was traced.

Police said when the car was spotted just after the robbery, it was occupied by three men who matched the descriptions of the suspects.

The car was later found parked in Broomlee Drive, within the Charleston area of Dundee, just after 1400 GMT.

Det Insp Colin Gall said: "Door to door enquiries are now being concentrated in this area and I would now appeal to local residents in this area who may have noticed this car, at any time, in the Broomlee Drive area to report the fact to the police.

"This will aid our enquiries to provide a clearer picture of the movements of the car since the robbery."

The car was removed for forensic examinations.
