What the Scottish papers say

The Daily Record reports that the man accused of murdering schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton went on trial - 17 years after she vanished.

The Herald says Donald Trump's dream of building the world's best golf course became a reality when his plans for a £1bn resort were given the go-ahead by the Scottish Government.

The Scotsman says the tycoon has insisted the global financial meltdown will not stand in the way of him realising his dream of building the "world's greatest golf course" in Scotland.

Fears over job losses at banking giants HBOS and Lloyds TSB mounted as further details of the merger plan were unveiled, says the Press and Journal.
