Picture gallery: The Edinburgh floods

Householders and businesses in and around Edinburgh begin mopping up after 24 hours of torrential rain and floods.

Hundreds were forced from their homes when the weather chaos hit the city, Lothian and Grampian.

Three old people's homes and at least 40 houses were evacuated in Edinburgh as flood waters rose by more than four feet and a number of homes were left without power.
