Party faithful on the conference trail
Hundreds of Scottish Liberal Democrat members attended their party's spring conference in Aviemore in the Highlands.

But who was at the gathering and why?

Two Lib Dem foot soldiers, Shabnum Mustapha and Kevin Lang, tell BBC Scotland's news website about the fun, nerves, humour and exhaustion which are part and parcel of conference events.

My first conference speech was in 2006 and I've never been as nervous. I spoke about anti-social behaviour and how we need to provide things for children to do, so they are not getting involved in such behaviour in the first place. Even better that I got a laugh at my joke about the time I got Buckfast confused with Buck's Fizz.

For me, the most enjoyable part of conference has to be catching up with old friends and making new ones, reciting stories of elections won and looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead. In many ways the party is a bit of an extended family and the conference this weekend will mark one of our regular reunions.
