Appeal after road rage attack
Lothian and Borders Police car
Police are appealing for information about the attack
Police in Edinburgh are investigating a road rage incident in which a man was punched and kicked.

The attack at the Maybury roundabout happened during a confrontation between two drivers.

The 34-year-old victim had been aware of a silver Vauxhall Vectra driving close behind him.

When the two vehicles stopped at a red light, both men got out of their cars and squared up to each other.

The victim was then punched in the face and kneed in the groin before the driver returned to his car and drove away towards the city centre.

The attack happened shortly before 0900BST on Wednesday.

The suspect is described as in his 30's, 5'8" tall, sporty build with short dark gelled hair.

He was wearing an olive green suit and tie.

A police spokeswoman said: "We believe that other drivers stopped at the red light may have witnessed this incident and we would appeal to them to contact us.

"Obviously this was a frightening attack for the victim who was very shaken by the incident."
