Police have appealed for information after the body of a man was discovered in a Glasgow park.

John Devine, 45, from Royston, was found in bushes in Cowlairs Park in Keppochhill Road, Saracen, at about 1830 BST on Monday.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that the death was being treated as suspicious.

Mr Devine's dog Chico may have stayed with his owner's body for two or three days before it was discovered, police said.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out.

Mourners have left flowers at the park where the body was discovered.

Det Insp John Kennedy of Saracen police office said officers were studying CCTV footage and carrying out door to door enquiries in the local area in order to establish the last movements of Mr Devine.

He said: "I would appeal to anyone, including dog walkers, who may have seen Mr Devine with Chico in the park prior to his body being discovered on Monday 16 July to come forward."

The Staffordshire bull terrier cross has now been taken in by a neighbour.

Witnesses are asked to contact Strathclyde Police on 0141 532 3958 .
