Police investigators visited the scene and will report to the Procurator Fiscal
A woman has been killed in a crash with a police car in Glasgow's East End.

The police, in a marked car, were responding to reports of a drunk driver when the accident happened late on Saturday night.

Strathclyde Police say their car, a Volvo, had its emergency lights and siren in operation. It was going in the opposite direction to the car, a Fiat Punto.

55 year old Helen Barbour of East Kilbride was a passenger in the car, being driven by her husband, Alexander.

He was treated in Glasgow Royal Infirmary and later released. Nobody else was in the car.

The police say the two officers in their traffic division car were a 40 year old male officer, who was driving , and a 29 year old male officer.

Both were uninjured, but were described as badly shaken. Neither has been suspended from duty.

An inquiry is to be carried out by Strathclyde Police. Their accident investigators have been to the scene, at the junction of Fielden Street and Gallowgate.

A report will now be sent to the procurator fiscal, the public prosecutor. A copy will go to the deputy Chief Constable.
