Overall I feel the campaign so far has not come alive and one of the reasons for this is the lack of sparkle or charisma or personality from the leaders of the various parties.

The exceptions perhaps are the likes of Tommy Sheridan, a man who unfortunately I could never vote for personally, but he has a real passion in everything he says, and because of this he comes across as well meaning and believable. Not in the least your normal "dour Scot".

Alex Salmond has an element of this, but unfortunately he doesn't create - in me anyway - any sense of honesty and believability.

His approach seems to be a win-at-all-costs policy with responses to questions being of the - "well can I answer it in this way" style.

Jack McConnell on the other hand seems to be the Chihuahua sitting on Gordon Brown's lap.

The only thing that Labour seem to be doing is to rubbish the SNP and all its policies, and because of its previous record (what record do I hear you ask?) it is unable to say we've done this, now give us the chance to enlarge and commit to doing this.

The fact that the London "big guns" are spending as much time as they are in Scotland shows how worried the Labour Party is.

Labour are running a totally negative campaign and I believe it will bite back just like it did with the Tories some 10 years ago.

The Lib Dems are the grey party, with a very grey leader. Nicol Stephen just doesn't have anything to offer in my opinion, and this could be because they've held up the Labour Party during the Scottish Parliament just finished.

They have a belief they hold the key to future direction, but in reality their leader is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Annabel Goldie comes across as the matronly aunt, who you see every so often for Sunday tea! Very quiet and dignified, but a leader - I don't believe she is the ideal choice.

One or two of the younger generation of Scottish Tories are waiting in the wings and I believe they would add additional dynamism to what so far has been a fairly low-key campaign.
