A 33-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in a quarry in 1995.

William Arthurs is accused of stabbing factory worker Robert Higgins to death.

The body of Mr Higgins, 35, from Dalmeny near Edinburgh, was found in Craigs Quarry, Milrig Farm, Kirkliston, on 1 May, 1995.

Mr Arthurs, from Kirkliston, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody pending further inquiries.

In January, a team of officers from Lothian and Borders Police began to reinvestigate the case.
