Missing eight-year-old found safe

Dylan was reunited with his mother after going missing overnight
An eight-year-old Aberdeen boy whose disappearance sparked a major search had stayed overnight with a family friend, it has emerged.

The search for Dylan Trendall had involved an RAF helicopter, police dog teams, coastguards, CID officers and two lifeboats.

The youngster, from the Kincorth area, vanished on Monday night leaving his family "distraught".

He was reunited with his mother after being found in Aberdeen on Tuesday.

Feeling fine

Dylan's mother Dawn, hugging her son after getting him home safely, said: "I would just like to say thank-you to everyone."

Dylan looked shocked by all the media attention at his front door and said he was "fine".

Police had been checking with his family and friends in the area of his Gardner Road home in an attempt to find an explanation for his disappearance.

Officers, family members, friends, and local residents searched overnight, without success.

The fact that he had been missing without explanation had been of mounting concern.

Dylan's family were said by police to be "distraught and extremely concerned" before the good news.

Following information from a member of the public, Dylan was found safe and well at the home of a friend in the Inchbrae area of Aberdeen.

Police officers went to the house and took Dylan back to his home in Gardner Road.

Grampian Police Supt Adrian Watson said: "We are extremely pleased and relieved that Dylan has turned up safe and well.

"We are delighted for his family."

He added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank the public and the media for their assistance in our efforts to trace Dylan."
