Cinema upgrade plans passed
The Playhouse/Pic: Undiscovered Scotland
The Playhouse is housed in an iconic Art Deco building
Perth's only cinema will undergo a major upgrade after the plans were passed by councillors.

The proposals will see one of two new screens at the Playhouse used as a children's cinema.

The development of the grade A listed building will also include a play area, bar and restaurant.

The project was approved by Perth and Kinross Council's development control committee, although there were six public objections to the plans.

The Playhouse, operated by Caledonian Cinemas, is housed in a 1930s Art Deco building, listed as being of special architectural interest.

The expansion will see an extension built onto one side of the building.
