Scots tourist killed in Australia
A 27-year-old backpacker from the Highlands has been stabbed to death while on a working holiday with his girlfriend in Australia.

Rudi Boa, from Culloden, near Inverness, was killed in New South Wales on Friday night.

Alexander York, 31, from Essex, has been charged with his murder. He has appeared in court and was remanded in custody until March.

Mr Boa was travelling with Gillian Brown, 29, from Inverness.

The couple had been travelling around South East Asia before arriving in Australia. They planned to go to New Zealand before heading home.

According to a spokeswoman for New South Wales Police the incident happened during a late-night row.

Reports said the two men had been drinking earlier and a fight broke out at a holiday park at Tumut near the Snowy Mountains.
