City centre move in murder probe
Emma Caldwell
Emma Caldwell was last seen alive on 4 April
An incident caravan has been set up in an area of Glasgow where prostitutes work by police investigating the murder of Emma Caldwell.

The body of the 27-year-old was found by a dog walker in woods near Biggar, South Lanarkshire, earlier this month.

The 24-hour a day caravan is situated in Cadogan Street near the city centre.

Officers hope that clients will come forward with information on her disappearance that could prove vital in the hunt for her killer.

'Solve the case'

Detective Superintendent Willie Johnston, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "The location of the incident caravan will hopefully reassure women working in the area of a police presence.

"In addition, it will provide an opportunity for men to come forward and speak to the police before we have to go and speak to them.

"Someone out there knows something and we would urge persons in the area to speak to officers at the caravan as they may provide that vital piece of information that could solve the case."

The caravan is situated at the corner of Cadogan street and Douglas Street.

Ms Caldwell, a former horse-riding teacher, vanished after leaving a women's hostel in Inglefield Street in the Govanhill area of Glasgow.

Derelict flats

She was last seen walking alone in Butterbiggins Road towards Victoria Road, at about 2300 BST on 4 April.

Her body was discovered on 8 May.

She had turned to heroin and prostitution after her older sister Karen lost a fight against cancer.

Earlier this week, a 60ft high picture of Emma was projected onto a derelict block of flats in Glasgow.

The image was displayed for four hours on the multi-storey flats in Cumberland Street, Hutchesontown, on Monday night.

Police said the site had been chosen as it was visible across areas frequented by Ms Caldwell and other prostitutes.
