Police investigating the rape of a teenager in Midlothian have questioned about 300 people as they intensify their hunt for clues.
The teenager was raped in a country lane
Road blocks were set up on the B7003 between the villages of Rosewell and Roslin to coincide with the attack a week ago.
The aim was to jog motorists' memories in an effort to find more witnesses.
The 19-year-old Dutch woman was pushed down a steep embankment, sexually assaulted and repeatedly punched.
The shop worker's attacker had approached her from the opposite direction in the early evening near Rosslyn Chapel, which was recently featured in Dan Brown's best-seller The Da Vinci Code.
Drivers were questioned in the hope of finding witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the sex attack, which investigators described as "sustained and vicious".
Detective Inspector Ronnie Millar, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We stopped 250 vehicles and questioned 300 occupants of the cars over a two-hour period.
"A number of new witnesses were traced and a number of vehicles eliminated from the enquiry.
Police have shown clothes like those the victim was wearing
"We will be sifting through the questionnaires over the next few days to see if we can glean any other information that might gives us that vital lead we need to trace the suspect.
"We would like to thank everyone who participated for their patience and co-operation."
Details of the "distinctive" clothes worn by the victim, who moved from Holland to Edinburgh about a year ago, were released by detectives on Friday.
She had been wearing a pink chiffon dress over a zigzag pattern pink, cream and green top.
The woman was treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. She went back to the scene on Tuesday for an hour to help officers in their manhunt.
The attacker is described as white, in his 30s, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins, medium build, with a round face, pale complexion, cropped brown short hair with a fringe cut across the forehead.
He was possibly wearing a light-coloured T-shirt tucked into blue denim jeans.
