A female climber who fell to her death on a mountain near Ben Nevis has been named by police.

Amy Rudge, 20, from Shawlands, Glasgow, was found at the bottom of a 500ft (152m) drop in the Aonach Beag area.

She was found on Saturday by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, helped by a rescue helicopter from Prestwick.

A police spokesman said a search was launched after police were alerted that a climber had fallen. Ms Rudge's family have been informed of her death.

A phone call reporting the fall was received at the Fort William Police Station around 1600BST on Saturday, said the Northern Constabulary spokesman.
