A blind man has been accused of biting his guide dog on the head.
David Todd, 34, was arrested following an alleged incident near the Meadowbank Retail Park in Edinburgh earlier this month.
Police said it was alleged that he had bitten the eight-year-old labrador on the head and kicked its body.
Mr Todd was charged with animal cruelty and a breach of the peace. The dog has been handed over to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
"A 34-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the incident," said a spokeswoman for the Lothian and Borders force.
