Charlie and Geraldine Hilling celebrate their win at Ibrox
A Rangers fan who scooped £3m on the lottery plans to buy an executive box to watch his football team in action.

Charlie Hilling, 37, said he had not ruled out investing some of his winnings in the Glasgow club.

Mr Hilling and wife Geraldine, 35, won a share of Saturday's £15m Lotto Superdraw jackpot.

The 37-year-old, who has quit his job as a bill poster, was presented with the bumper cheque at the home of his heroes, Ibrox Stadium.

The couple, who do not play the lottery every week, only bought a ticket as Mrs Hilling had a cold and they decided to stay in with a DVD and a takeaway.

Describing the moment he realised he had matched all six numbers, Mr Hilling said: "We didn't realise until after the film had finished that our numbers had come up.

"After that we just kept checking and checking again.

"I've always felt like quite a lucky person in life, but this is really unbelievable.

"If we had gone to the pub as first planned, we might not have bought that ticket at all."

Mr Hilling handed in his notice on Tuesday after buying his boss a coffee and a slice of carrot cake.

On trying to come to terms with his win, he said: "It is going to take time to sink in.

"We will need to go away for a holiday and then come back and make a few decisions.

"I'll definitely get a box at Ibrox."

'Best cold cure'

The Baillieston couple, who have been married for seven years, picked their winning numbers 7, 10, 17, 28, 29 and 33 using family birthdays.

They also matched three numbers on a separate line and boosted their total winnings by £10.

Mr Hilling bought the lucky ticket in the Alldays store in Barrachnie Road, Baillieston.

Mr Hilling said that finding out they were winners was the "the best cure for a cold I've ever had".

She has taken time off her job as a database manager with Glasgow City Council but has not yet handed in her notice.

The couple, who moved house only three months ago, plan to buy a new property with their winnings and go on holiday to Dubai.
