Police officers said Brian Martin should not be approached
Police have released a picture of a man they want to interview in connection with a firearms incident in Fife.

They have warned the public not to approach 47-year-old Ballingry man Brian Martin, known as "Hawk", who has been described as dangerous.

An investigation has been launched following the incident at 2300 BST on Wednesday in Kelty.

Detective Inspector Alex Watson said: "I would urge Mr Martin to contact the police.

"I would ask any member of the public with information relating to his movements, his whereabouts now, or anyone who may see Mr Martin, to contact Fife Police immediately."

Fife Police warned that people should not approach Mr Martin but Superintendent Martin Birrell said there was no indication that there would be a repeat incident.

'Major inquiry'

"Brian Martin poses a real danger to the public, on no account should anyone approach him," he said.

"We have launched a major inquiry with scene of crime officers and forensic officers both locally and from police headquarters involved.

"However, we are treating it as a one-off incident."

Mr Birrell said a warrant had been issued for Mr Martin's arrest.

He said he had no idea where Mr Martin might be and would not comment when asked if he might have gone south of the border.

He also declined to give details about the Kelty incident.

"This is part of an ongoing criminal investigation so we are very limited in what we can say in case we jeopardise our future trial," he said.
