Fisherman dies after gully fall
An angler has died from head injuries after falling around 100ft down gully in Perthshire.

Andrew Johnston, 45, from Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, was on a trip with two friends to the River Ericht near Blairgowrie on Saturday.

A mountain rescue team from RAF Leuchars, on exercise nearby, helped police and ambulance workers.

The injured fisherman died after being airlifted to hospital in Dundee by a helicopter crew from RAF Lossiemouth.

A police spokesman said: "The man has died from his injuries. There are no suspicious circumstances but as in all deaths of this nature a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

The man was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital by a Sea King helicopter.

The aircraft captain, Wing Commander Steve Garden said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this time."
