An angler has died from head injuries after falling around 100ft down gully in Perthshire.
Andrew Johnston, 45, from Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, was on a trip with two friends to the River Ericht near Blairgowrie on Saturday.
A mountain rescue team from RAF Leuchars, on exercise nearby, helped police and ambulance workers.
The injured fisherman died after being airlifted to hospital in Dundee by a helicopter crew from RAF Lossiemouth.
A police spokesman said: "The man has died from his injuries. There are no
suspicious circumstances but as in all deaths of this nature a report will be
sent to the procurator fiscal."
The man was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital by a Sea King helicopter.
The aircraft captain, Wing Commander Steve Garden said: "Our thoughts are
with the man's family at this time."
