Turkish man Daimi Akyuz has been jailed for the killing of Scottish toddler Alistair Grimason in a shooting at a cafe.
BBC News Online Scotland looks back at the events which led to the conviction.
7 July 2003: Alistair Grimason, his mother Ozlem and his grandmother are at a cafe in Foca when a gunfight breaks out and Alistair is shot dead.
8 July 2003: David Grimason and his mother, May, fly to Izmir to where Alistair was killed.
11 July 2003: David and Ozlem return to Scotland with their son's body.
17 July 2003: The toddler's funeral takes place at the Old Parish Church in his home town of East Kilbride.
21 August 2003: The family launch a petition calling for tighter gun laws in Turkey.
1 September 2003: Prime suspect Daimi Akyuz is arrested and charged by police in Izmir.

28 September 2003: David addresses an anti-gun rally in Istanbul.
4 October 2003: The Turkish street "Ali Star Road", where the toddler was shot dead, is renamed in honour of him.
11 December 2003: David and Ozlem come face to face with their son's killer as the first day-long hearing in the trial gets under way.
16 December 2003: David and Ozlem travel to Ankara to meet Deniz Baykal of the CHP opposition party to present their petition - of almost 200,000 names - to the parliament.
29 February 2004: A concert by the Proclaimers and Deacon Blue's Ricky Ross is held in Dunfermline in memory of Alistair.
30 April 2004: The charge of unintentional murder is increased to murder after forensic evidence is heard in court.
11 June 2004: The man accused of murdering Alistair appears at the fourth hearing at the court in Izmir but the case is put off as the defence solicitor is in hospital.
2 July 2004: The case against Daimi Akyuz is once again adjourned due to the lawyer recovering from an operation.
7 July 2004: David and Ozlem lay flowers on Alistair's grave exactly one year after he was shot and killed.
19 July 2004: Daimi Akyuz is found guilty of killing Alistair Grimason and jailed for 36 years.
