Jodi Jones
Jodi Jones' body was found on 30 June last year
A 15-year-old boy is due to go on trial next month in connection with the murder of the schoolgirl Jodi Jones, it has been confirmed.

Jodi was 14 when her body was found by a woodland path, near her home in Easthouses, Midlothian, in June 2003.

Her mother Judy had become anxious when the teenager failed to return home after going out to meet her boyfriend.

The case is scheduled to start at the High Court in Edinburgh at the sitting commencing 6 August.

The boy cannot be named for legal reasons.

The Crown Office confirmed the date for the start of the trial in a brief statement on Thursday.

It said: "A 15-year-old boy has been indicted in connection with the murder of Jodi Jones.

"The case is to call at Edinburgh High Court at the sitting commencing 6 August 2004."

The indictment is the document which contains the charges faced by a person who is being dealt with under solemn procedure in the Scottish courts.

More serious cases are dealt with under solemn procedure and are heard by a jury of 15 people.
