Police blocked off nearby roads
An investigation is under way after reports of gunfire during a disturbance at a travellers' site in Edinburgh.

Roads near the site in the Granton area of Edinburgh were blocked by police after the alarm was raised at 0200 BST.

Armed police were called in and Lothian and Borders officers spent four hours bringing the situation under control.

It is thought about 100 people in two feuding groups were involved. A caravan was set alight and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called out at about 0200 to a travellers' encampment in West Shore Road after receiving reports of a fight and shots being heard.

"Police were there for several hours but by 0600 the area was contained and all was calm.

"We will now undertake interviews with the people on the site and search the area to establish what went on."

Police have not released details of the two men taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
