Man charged over Dumfries death

Police have appealed for witnesses
A man has been charged in connection with the death of a young woman in Dumfries on Monday evening.

The 32-year-old was arrested shortly after an alleged attack on a busy road. He is expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary have named the victim as local woman Stacey Trainor.

The 24-year-old, who had a two-year-old daughter, died at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward in relation to the woman's death.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the Lockerbie Road/Moffat Road/St Mary's area of the town late on Monday afternoon.
