Room for romance on shopping trip
Jill Horan and David Bell
Jill Horan popped the question to David Bell
A Scottish woman took advantage of leap year tradition to pop the question to her boyfriend on a shopping trip.

Jill Horan, 22, got down on one knee and asked David Bell to marry her in a specially-created "proposal room" in East Kilbride Shopping Centre.

The 24-year-old said yes and was rewarded with a pat on the back from friends and a magnum of champagne from the shopping centre.

"If he had proposed to me it would not have been so special," said Miss Horan.

She said she had not wanted to waste the opportunity on the day when unmarried women are traditionally supposed to entice their partners up the aisle.

"I had always said I would never be the one to propose so David was totally shocked when I popped the question," she said.

"The 29th is such a romantic date and when I heard about the proposal room in East Kilbride Shopping Centre I decided to go for it.

"Fortunately he said yes."

The couple, who have been together for two years, both work in the Dollan Aqua Centre in East Kilbride.
