New police chief inspector named
The chief constable of Grampian Police is to become HM chief inspector of constabulary for Scotland.

Andrew Brown will take up the post in March 2004 following Sir Roy Cameron's retirement at the end of the year.

The post is the senior professional police adviser to Scottish ministers and to the Scottish Executive Justice Department.

Its duties include inspecting the state and efficiency of individual police forces, their buildings and equipment.
