Police in 'bad heroin' warning
Injecting heroin
Five people have received treatment over the weekend
Drug users in the Highlands have been been warned by police about a possible bad batch of heroin in the region.

At least five people in Easter Ross have received medical treatment over the weekend following their suspected use of heroin, police said.

It is understood that a concerned GP contacted police in Alness.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "At this time five individuals are believed to have received medical treatment.

"While it is too early to connect these cases, it may well be that there is a bad batch of heroin in the area."

Health agencies and other groups have been alerted and inquiries are continuing.

Anyone with information that could help with inquiries are being asked to telephone police at Alness on
01349 882 222.
