Bus crash injures seven

One pupil remains in hospital
Seven people have been treated in hospital after the bus they were travelling on collided with a tanker.

Five schoolchildren and two adults were treated for minor injuries following the crash at 0830 GMT on the A714 near Pinmore, Girvan, South Ayrshire.

Four youngsters, all pupils at Girvan Academy, were taken to Davidson Hospital in Girvan.

A female pupil remains at the hospital where she is being treated for a fractured collar bone.

The three other children, who suffered minor injuries, have since been released.

Sewage tanker

A school pupil, an adult and the bus driver were taken to Ayr Hospital.

They were released after treatment for minor injuries.

The group were injured when the Stagecoach bus they were travelling on hit an empty sewage tanker, Strathclyde Police said.

A police spokeswoman said 30 other pupils on board at the time were uninjured.
