Tattoo event is a sell-out
Edinburgh Military Tattoo
Organisers say the event is a complete sell-out
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo has sold out in advance - for the first time in its 52-year history.

Event organisers say the last of the tickets for the three-week event, which will bring the Queen's Golden Jubilee tour to a close, were sold on Monday afternoon.

The Queen will attend the event and take the salute on 5 August.

The event coincides with the Jubilee celebrations

The Tattoo will run in the Scottish capital from 2-24 August.

It will feature 600 musicians and what is being described as the largest gathering of Highland dancers.

The 1,200-strong line-up is believed to be the largest cast assembled for the event.

The Tattoo will also be seen by a worldwide television audience estimated at 100 million.

The event, which began in 1950, is the Army's contribution to Edinburgh's International Festival.

Edinburgh's Lord Provost Eric Milligan has said that since it was the Queen's Jubilee year the event would be "a colour spectacular".
