Stornoway Coastguard helicopter took part in a search
A body has been recovered from a Highland loch where a fisherman was reported missing after his boat capsized.

Police said that the discovery was made by a team of local volunteers near the spot where 49-year-old Clive Godden was last seen.

However, a spokesman for Northern Constabulary said that the body had not yet been identified.

Mr Godden, 49, from Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, was with a friend on Loch Fionn in Wester Ross when their small plastic boat overturned on Friday afternoon.

His companion managed to swim ashore and the alarm was raised by a passer-by.

The Stornoway Coastguard helicopter, Loch Ewe and Ullapool Coastguard Rescue Teams and Northern Constabulary took part in a search of the remote area.

Mr Godden's companion also helped the teams searching the shoreline.

A coastguard spokeswoman said there had been good weather and visibility in the area at the time of the accident.

Body located

Mr Godden was said to be part of a three-strong group from England who were staying at nearby Gruinard.

On Monday, a Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "As a result of a search carried out at Fionn Loch, Gruinard, Aultbea, by local volunteers, the body of a man was located in the water near to where Mr Godden was last seen.

"The body was located at 8.50pm yesterday and recovered shortly after. It has not, as yet, been identified."
