Hundreds of people have attended a funeral service for Gary Linn, the tool salesman whose body was discovered after a huge police hunt.

The father-of-three was found last month by the South Esk river, in Temple, Midlothian, some nine-months after he disappeared.

The 38-year-old's was found close to where his van was discovered last August.

Some 250 friends and family gathered at Kilsyth Parish Church, in Lanarkshire, for a low-key service on Saturday.

It was conducted by Rev Charles McKinnon, before Mr Linn was taken to the local cemetery by horse-drawn carriage.

Mourners sang the hymns How Great Thou Art, The Lord's My Shepherd and The Old Rugged Cross, during the private 40-minute service.

Among those attending were Mr Linn's wife Kathleen, their three sons Christopher, 12, David, 10, and five-year-old Shaun, as well as Mr Linn's parents Jack and Irene.

A memorial service for Mr Linn was held shortly before his body was discovered.

Central Scotland Police launched a massive inquiry to find Mr Linn, a Snap-on-Tools salesman, in various parts of central and southern Scotland after his unexplained disappearance.

The hunt included an extensive search of a landfill site near Grangemouth, where it was thought Mr Linn's body could have been dumped.

Following Mr Linn's discovery last month, a 29-year-old Edinburgh man has appeared in court in connection with his death.
