McConnell 'intruder' charged
Bute House
Police are investigating an alleged incident
A woman has been arrested after allegedly gatecrashing a party hosted by Scottish First Minister Jack McConnell.

The woman was said to have mingled with guests at Bute House in Edinburgh, Mr McConnell's official residence.

Lothian and Borders Police said a 46-year-old woman has been reported to the procurator fiscal.

Police spokesman
The Scottish Executive confirmed that it was dealing with an alleged breach of security.

A spokesman said: "We can confirm that following an incident at Bute House last night the police were called.

"We understand that the police are still investigating and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further."

The spokesman said the matter would be looked at as part of the executive's continuing scrutiny of security at official properties.

"Security at all Scottish Executive properties is constantly under review, however we do not comment on security arrangements at individual properties," he said.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "A 46-year-old woman was charged in connection with the incident at Bute House and has been reported to the procurator fiscal."
