Torso police launch poster campaign
River Leven
The body was found on the banks of the River Leven
Police investigating the death of a woman whose torso was found on a riverbank have launched a poster campaign.

The appeal for fresh information on the death of Amy Anderson is being centred on Dunbartonshire and Dumfries.

The remains of the 19-year-old were found on the banks of the River Leven, near Dumbarton, last Thursday morning.

Miss Anderson had been sleeping rough
Miss Anderson, a homeless drug addict, had been sleeping rough for several months before her death.

She was last seen at 1740 BST on Monday 6 May 6 in Christie Park, Alexandria.

Police divers are continuing to search the River Leven in a bid to trace the missing body parts.

Now posters appealing for information will be placed in shop windows and police stations in the Dunbartonshire area.

They will also be distributed in Miss Anderson's home town of Dumfries.

Detective Superintendent Stephen Ward, the officer in charge of the inquiry, has promised to "leave no stone" unturned in the hunt for the killer.

Inquiry team

"This is an appalling and tragic incident which has had a devastating effect on Amy's family and on the local community," he said.

"I would appeal to any member of the public who believes they have even the smallest piece of information to come forward and give that information to the inquiry team."

Miss Anderson's remains were discovered two weeks after the torso of former soldier Daniel Hutcheson was found by a man walking his dog at Old Kilpatrick.

Det Supt Ward said there was nothing to link the two deaths, even though both victims were homeless drug addicts.
