Flat searched after torso find
The torso was found near the Erskine Bridge
Police investigating the death of a former soldier whose headless and limbless body was found on the banks of a river are searching a flat in Glasgow.
Daniel Hutcheson, from Drumchapel in Glasgow, was found by two dog walkers near the Erskine Bridge over the River Clyde. The 23-year-old was dismissed from the Royal Highland Fusiliers three years ago after allegations of drug taking. He had had a long battle with drugs and was last seen at a homeless hostel in Glasgow in November last year.
A spokeswoman for the force said the process was expected to last several days. However, she would not disclose the reason why the property was being searched. Police are treating Mr Hutcheson's death as suspicious. An incident room has been set up and divers are continuing to search the water at Old Kilpatrick for the missing parts of his body. Mr Hutcheson's torso was found near to Erskine Ferry Road, Old Kilpatrick, on Friday. It is not yet clear how long his remains could have been in the water and a post mortem has not been able to establish the cause of death. |
