Beggs' trial: Picture gallery:
The conviction of William Beggs for the murder of Kilmarnock teenager Barry Wallace concluded one of the most macabre and notorious police investigations and trials in Scottish legal history.
BBC News Online Scotland looks back at some of the images captured during the two-year investigation.

 The search soon moved onto Beggs' flat in Kilmarnock

 William Beggs fled to Amsterdam but was extradited
 Beggs arrived at Edinburgh Airport on 9 January 2001
 Beggs was tried and convicted at Edinburgh High Court
 William Beggs was convicted on 12 October
