Seven hurt in 'sauce' attack
ARI
The injured were treated in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
Seven people have been treated in hospital in Aberdeen after they were sprayed with hot chilli sauce in a nightclub.

They were dancing in Yates Wine Lodge, when they were attacked with the liquid on the dance floor.

The victims were taken to the city's Royal Infirmary where they were treated for eye and skin irritation.

The busy nightclub was evacuated just before midnight on Saturday after the victims complained to staff that they had been sprayed with an irritating substance.

This could happen again, in this wine lodge or in another place and we are asking people to vigilant

Police spokesman
Grampian Police said staff at the nightclub, situated on Langstane Place, failed to track down the people responsible despite searching the premises.

Officers believe similar attacks could be carried out in other city night spots and have warned club-goers to be on the look out for anyone acting suspiciously.

A police spokesman said: "These people were on the dance floor when it appears that some one, or some people, have come up behind them and sprayed their clothes and skin with strong chilli sauce.

"Although the effects from such action are not life-threatening it is a very stupid thing to do and can cause a lot of discomfort and trauma to people who get sprayed.

"Obviously with it being a Saturday night the premises were very busy and more people could have been injured.

"This could happen again, in this wine lodge or in another place and we are asking people to vigilant."

The spokesman said the late-night incident was being investigated and appealed for witnesses.
