'Supermodel' search begins

The search is on for the new Naomi Campbell

The search for the next international supermodel has begun in Edinburgh.

Auditions are underway at Hibernian's Easter Road stadium in the latest Popstars-style documentary.

Women, aged between 16 and 24, are hoping a year's modelling contract with Premier Model Management, which currently represents Naomi Campbell and Sophie Anderton.

They will also be flown to New York to appear on the cover of Cosmopolitan if they win the event, organised by Channel 4.

The programme makers are scouring the UK in a bid to find the latest fashion star in the new entertainment series Model Behaviour.

Event spokeswoman Eugenie Tham said: "This is a great opportunity for any good-looking girl living in Scotland to break into a modelling career that will see them on catwalks and showbiz parties around the world.

"We are looking for anyone who has got something different to offer and we have no preference over height, weight or hair colour. They just have to have the right unique look that we are after."

Ms Tham said that women who went along to the audition would be guaranteed to appear on the Channel 4 show.

She added: "We hope this will be as big as Popstars and there is no reason why it shouldn't be. There are loads of lovely girls out there and we are offering them the chance of TV fame and a new and exciting career."

Three winners will be picked in Edinburgh and from the five other regions where auditions are being held.

Regional winners will then attend a week of auditions in London, where five finalists will be chosen before the eventual winner is announced.
