Hot gossip on Madonna's wedding
Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Madonna and Guy Ritchie got engaged last month
A media scrum has descended on the Highlands as speculation grows that Madonna and her English boyfriend will marry in Scotland.

The showbiz couple are rumoured to be ready to tie the knot at Skibo Castle near Donorch and have their baby son Rocco christened at the Church of Scotland's Dornoch Cathedral.

Last month American singer Madonna revealed she would marry film director Guy Ritchie and set up home in London.

The 42-year-old confirmed that Ritchie had bought her a ring but she added that they were both "far too busy" for the wedding to take place before Christmas.

However, tabloid newspapers have stuck their necks out and have declared that the pair will get hitched in Scotland on Friday 22 December.

It is understood the happy couple had flown into the Highlands on Tuesday to check out their wedding venue.

If they are to marry on the last Friday before Christmas, their bans of marriage must be displayed under Scottish law.

All intentions to wed north of the Border have to be made public at least 15 days before the ceremony.

Rocco's christening

Madonna gave birth to Rocco just over four months ago, she also has a three-year-old daughter Lourdes from a previous relationship.

The star has been spending more time in the UK since the start of her relationship with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Ritchie more than a year ago.

It has been well documented by the media that the couple had bought a house in London's Notting Hill for about 6.9m.

Madonna's career is enjoying a boom after her recent success at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Stockholm.

She was named best dance act and best female performer, beating off the likes of Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
