A 23-year-old single mother-of-two from Swansea has been found dead in her home still cradling her 10-month old baby.

The woman, from Townhill, was found by a neighbour when her other child, a four-year-old, answered the door and said her mother would not wake up.

South Wales Police confirmed they are not treating the death of the woman as suspicious.

Police said they are not linking the death of the woman, who was known locally as a drugs' user, to drugs.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out on Monday.

Both the woman's young children are being cared for by relatives.

'Shed light'

The mother was found dead in an armchair in her sitting room by her neighbour on Thursday.

Officers have conducted door-to-door inquiries in the area to ascertain the circumstances of the woman's death.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a house in Gwent Road where a 23-year-old mother-of-two was found dead by a neighbour.

"It does not appear to be suspicious but we are appealing for anybody who may be able to shed light on this sudden death to contact us.

The spokesperson said police were leaving the death in the hands of the coroner.

"Once he comes back with a cause of death then if there is any further police action to take we will do so."
