Love is all around

More wedding news from the Welsh Liberal Democrats, whose leader Lembit Opik has postponed his nuptials due to election pressures.

Mr Opik, who now plans to tie the knot with weather presenter Sian Lloyd early next year, has written the foreword to the Lib Dems' latest policy document, on the NHS, a document entitled Immediate Action.

Call me a cynical old hack but I asked the party's health spokeswoman, Kirsty Williams, whether a party whose leader cannot organise a wedding in 18 months is capable of immediate action.

"I think that's a question for Mike German and Veronica Watkins....", blurted the AM for Brecon and Radnorshire.

Funnily enough, I thought it was a question for Lembit Opik but Ms Williams has let the cat out of the bag. Lib Dem Assembly leader Mr German and parliamentary candidate Veronica Watkins are planning another party coalition.

"There goes my chance of being a bridesmaid," blushed the AM.
