Labour's Gordon Banks won the seat with a majority of 688 over the SNP's Annabelle Ewing, who was an MP in the last parliament.
SNP leader Alex Salmond said: "I'm very disappointed about Annabelle Ewing. She has been an outstanding colleague."
Mr Banks said: "We fought a campaign based on positive issues from the Government's policies since 1997."
