English Democrats launch campaign
Holyrood debating chamber
The party says England should have its own Parliament, as Scotland has
The English Democrats have launched their election manifesto with the slogan "Putting England First".

The party wants a separate Parliament just for England, and is demanding that English people are given the chance to vote on the issue.

It also calls for free residential care for pensioners, and an end to student top-up fees in England.

The manifesto, unveiled in London, includes a demand for St George's Day to be designated a bank holiday.

The party is fielding 121 candidates in the election, including former Sun newspaper columnist Garry Bushell, who is standing in Greenwich and Woolwich.

It says that a Parliament for England should have at least the same powers as the Scottish Parliament.

The party opposes plans for regional assemblies in England, believing they would "promote disunity and conflict".
