Groundhog Day

By Nick Assinder
Political correspondent, BBC News website

POSTED: Monday 18 April, 1045BST

Having emerged from Labour's morning press conference, I'm greeted by the latest Tory stunt.

It's somebody dressed up in an animal costume with a large placard, declaring "Groundhog Day. We've heard it all before".

Poor chap. At least he doesn't have far to walk between the two party headquarters, which are only about 20 yards away.

However, if he thinks it's Groundhog Day, imagine what the hacks feel like, after 10 days attending these three morning press conferences.

Was it a beaver again? They had beavers outside a Labour press conference a while back and I never worked out quite why...
Rob, London
